Six leading, national construction managers collaborated to launch Construction Inclusion Week. PRAXIS was hired to establish the brand, provide project management oversight, develop DEI materials, including a DEI Maturity Model Assessment, and overall execution of the national PR/marketing communications campaign.
Dallas Area Rapid Transit- Station Expansions (B&C)
PRAXIS developed a teaming arrangement between two minority owned construction firms to strategically pursue work for Dallas Area Rapid Transit. This successful strategy resulted in the award of two work packages for the expansion of 25 light rail stations.
Innovan Neighborhoods/Community Developers Roundtable
Community development firm, Innovan Neighborhoods, has partnered with PRAXIS for several initiatives including the launch of the Community Developers Roundtable, project outreach engagement, and strategy.
Safety First
PRAXIS developed branding, collateral, and messaging for a North Texas construction industry safety initiative. TEXO's Safety First program is a noted safety credential seen on project sites throughout the region and provides assurance of worker safety training.

We're celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth by highlighting historical and contemporary contributions of Black people throughout the #BuiltEnvironment.
Starting in our backyard of #DallasTX, William Sidney Pittman (1875-1958) was a famed #architect & educator with notable historic project commissions throughout the country including Texas and the Washington, DC area. His work included churches, libraries, community spaces, schools, and housing.
Pittman was educated at @tuskegeeuniversity & received a scholarship to attend the all-white Drexel Institute to study architectural & mechanical drafting. He also happened to be the son-in-law of Booker T. Washington.
Slide 2: In Dallas, TX Pittman designed The Grand Lodge of the Colored Knights of Pythias Temple completed in 1916 which served as an anchor for African-American civic, business, and social life in Dallas, anchoring the #DeepEllum community. @adpresearchinstitute recently released their #PeopleatWork2022 report - findings indicated that 76% (roughly three quarters) of workers would look for a new job if they learned of gender pay disparities or if their company lacked a #DiversityandInclusion policy.

As we celebrate #MemorialDay and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifices for freedom, we also take a moment to reflect on the historical origin of this holiday. “Decoration Day” was started by formerly enslaved people in Charleston immediately after the Civil War to honor the lives lost in war.
When Charleston fell and Confederate troops evacuated the badly damaged city, those freed from enslavement remained. One of the first things those emancipated men and women did was to give the fallen Union prisoners a proper burial. They exhumed the mass grave and reinterred the bodies in a new cemetery with a tall whitewashed fence inscribed with the words: “Martyrs of the Race Course.”
And then on May 1, 1865, something even more extraordinary happened. A crowd of 10,000 people, mostly freed slaves with some white missionaries, staged a parade around the race track. Three thousand Black schoolchildren carried bouquets of flowers and sang “John Brown’s Body.” Members of the famed 54th Massachusetts and other Black Union regiments were in attendance and performed double-time marches. Black ministers recited verses from the Bible.
The Memorial Day observance was organized by freed slaves in Charleston at least a year before other U.S. cities and three years before the first national observance.

Hensley Field has an interesting history here in #Dallas- it opened in 1928 as an Army Air Field...then a Naval Air Station which left pollution and a brownfield site. It became a essentially a storage facility housing a cute 🐶 during the Ebola breakout and not-so-cute confederate monuments.
