Launched by Innovan Neighborhoods, the Community Developers Roundtable is a specialized cohort program designed to expose, connect, and educate developers of color. The 8-month long program delivered over a 2-year pilot has gained rousing support from local entities including major financial institutions, community organizations, and industry associations. PRAXIS continues our long-standing relationship with Innovan to develop branding, messaging, public relations, event management, and strategy for the program and participants.
Innovan's founder, Maggie Parker, had a vision for a collaborative network focused of providing access, structure, and education for developers of color. In partnership with BCL of Texas and underwritten by JP Morgan Chase, the program required intense strategy, branding, messaging, web development, and public relations for launch and execution.
PRAXIS worked in conjunction with Innovan Neighborhoods to define the launch vision of the program including a website, networking launch event, call-to-action campaign including video production and public/media relations. Additional scope included marketing and curriculum materials. PRAXIS also managed culminating event of the program including a 10-site project bus tour and networking event for over one hundred guests.
In November 2022, the cohort successfully launched with robust local media coverage and the selection of the initial cohort of fifteen community-focused developers. The program culminated with a 10-stop bus tour guiding guests through the participating developers projects and showcased their efforts and highlighted opportunities for future collaboration.
In the summer of 2022, PRAXIS worked executed the funder update and Cohort 2 kick-off event, including creating an award-winning impact report which highlighted the success of the first program year. PRAXIS again developed the infrastructure for the application process for Cohort 2 and continues to provide strategy, planning, media/public relations, and engagement for the program and participants.
PRAXIS LAND & LABOR ACKNOWLEDGMENT
As a Dallas, TX-based firm, our work takes place on the lands of the Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo), Towakani, Caddo, Wichita, as well as the tribes that may have lived here and roamed the area – including Comanche, Kiowa and Apache—historic Indigenous communities in Texas. In offering this land acknowledgment, we honor, respect, and affirm Indigenous sovereignty, history, and experiences.
In addition, we acknowledge that much of what we know of this country today, including its culture, economic growth, and development throughout history and across time, has been made possible by the labor of enslaved Africans and their ascendants who suffered the horror of the transatlantic trafficking of their people, chattel slavery, and Jim Crow. We are indebted to their labor and their sacrifice, and we must acknowledge the tremors of that violence throughout the generations and the resulting racial, political, social, and justice inequities that permeate the Built Environment.
